Brake Controller Sends 12 Volts with Manual Override but Only 6 Volts with Brake Pedal
Question:
I am testing the voltage on the plug in for the travel trailer on the back of the truck. When testing the voltage with the brake controller on 10 with the manual override I get 12 volts. When I test it using the brake pedal completely pressed I only get 6 volts. This doesnt seem right?

I am assuming you have a proportional brake controller. If this is the case then what you are experiencing is completely normal. A proportional brake controller senses inertia from the tow vehicle and then as the name states, applies that proportion of braking power to the brakes on the trailer. Since you are sitting still while testing, the full braking power will not be sent to the trailer with only the brake pedal depressed.
