Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 Short Bed

Question:

I have 2009 ram 2500 with a 6 foot box Was wondering if I could use a non sliding fifth wheel hitch or a sliding model Not sure if I will have enough trailer to window clearance.

With short bed trucks you have to use a sliding hitch to allow you the needed clearance to make tight turns. Otherwise the nose of the trailer will interfere with the cab of the truck as you make tight turns.

My favorite sliding hitch is the Demco Hijacker Autoslide part # DM8550034 which slides automatically as you make tight turns. To install this all you need is the correct install kit. For that you'd want the part # DM8552016-71 which is confirmed as a fit for your 2009 Ram 2500 short bed. This is a custom install kit too which means it will install in less time and minimize drilling as compared to a universal kit.
