Mounting Bracket is Bending During Reese Weight Distribution System Installation
Question:
I have the Reese 66153. However, Im unsure about one particular thing. In the instructions in Figure 2 the inside bracket Q was bending on me when I was torqueing the nut on the bottom hole. I only have bolts at the top of the frame and then at the very bottom hole of the inside bracket hole level to the outside. The inside bracket has bent inward, or toward the outside bracket, but I really need to know if this is okay or very unsafe. The bracket is tight and the bars go on well but I want to be sure its okay. I do have a picture of it that I can email if necessary no upload feature on here. Thank you in advance.

The instructions for the discontinued Reese SC Weight Distribution System 66153 state on page 2 that the lock nut should be torqued to 120 ft/lbs. You shouldn't be seeing the brackets bending at all which leads me to believe that you may have over-torqued the lock nuts.
If you performed the installation correctly but this happened in spite of you following the instructions, send me the picture and I can see if my contact at Reese has any input.
