Underbed Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 Short Bed

Question:

I currently own a 2016 GMC 2500 Crew cab gas engine with 6 1/2 bed. Max fifth wheel tow rating for my truck is 14,000 lbs. I do not have the factory fifth wheel prep kit. I am looking to purchase a Jayco trailer with the morride pin box system. I am looking to keep the bed of the truck more clean when the fifth wheel was not installed. I was interested in the Reese Elite series under bed rail kit. If I install this unit or any other under bed rail kits, am I limited on the type/brand/model of fifth wheel hitch I can us? Which set up would you recommend for my situation.

The Reese Elite Underbed Rail Kit part # RP30868 would be a great option for your 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 short bed. The recommended hitch then would be a slider Elite part # RP30144 which will fit the rail kit directly, but if you wanted to use a standard style fifth wheel hitch you could use the Elite adapter part # RP30156 and you'd have a set of industry standard style rails in your truck bed for a hitch like the Curt # C16521.
