Recommended Replacement for Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
I want to purchase a brake controller but would like to know what the difference is between the Tekonsha Voyager 39510 and the Tekonsha Voyager XP 89240? I am replacing a 5 year old Voyager 9030 39510? that is no longer functioning. Thanks

If you want to simply replace your existing Tekonsha Voyager in your vehicle with the same model unit, you can use the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510. This is the sama 9030 brake controller that you have and it will work great for trailers that have up to 4 axles.
I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha regarding the XP 89240 model number that you mentioned. He stated that this is simply a re-labeled number that is used for different distributors. There is no actual difference between the two models Voyagers.
If you are considering upgrading at all, I recommend taking a look at the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885. This is an excellent, proportional controller that can be mounted within a 360-degree vertical range and features an easy-to-read digital display. Its continuous diagnostics will alert you to any potential issues and the 3 boost levels let you adjust the initial braking power and aggressiveness.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this unit that you can also check out.
