Installation Of Brake Controller In 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Question:
Can you tell me which of the 4 wires it is?

Expert Reply:
The wires you need are normally around the brake light switch under the dashboard at the top of the brake pedal. There could be several different wires attached to the switch so use a circuit tester like Item # PTW2993 to find the functions of each wire and do not focus so much on the color. We do have some information on your 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 when it comes to installing a brake controller which is contained in the attached article.
From our experiences, you will connect a Brake Controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, Item # 90195, to four wires under the left side of the instrument panel to the left of the steering column.
Power: GM wire will be red/black and will connect to black wire on brake controller.
Ground: GM wire will be white and will connect to white wire on brake controller.
Brake Light: GM wire will be light blue/white and will connect to red wire on brake controller.
Brake Output To Trailer: GM wire will be dark blue and will connect to blue wire on brake controller.
These color combinations are what is used most often by GM for many of their full-size trucks including your 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. However, remember to wire function to function, not color to color, because different colors can be used.
I am attaching some articles and an installation video for a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado to assist you.
