Based on your information, I recommend going with a sliding fifth wheel hitch because you have a short bed.
If you do not have the factory rail kit, I recommend the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, Item # BWRVK3270. This hitch is a slider with above bed rails that has a maximum capacity of 18,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight capacity of 4,500 lbs. It has adjustable height settings, 17 inches to 19 inches, and 12 inches of slider travel. The Installation Rails Kit is Item # BWRVK2506. The Patriot is made in the USA.
If you have a factory rail kit, I recommend the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, Item # C16521. This hitch is a slider that fits into a factory system. It has a maximum capacity of 16,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight capacity of 4,000 lbs. It has adjustable height settings, 17-1/2 inches to 21-1/2 inches, and 12 inches of slider travel. The Adapter Rails Kit is Item # C16023.
To make everything easier for you and your travels, I also recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Wiring Harness, Item # C56000, in your truck bed.
I have attached some articles, videos, and a link to our available inventory to assist you.
