How to Make Bikes on Thule T2 Bike Rack Harder to Steal

Question:

The Thule rack TH69TX has a fundamental problem in that the locking arm does not securely lock the bike, I locked in two bikes Cervelo S5 and Felt IA10. After securing both, I was able to loosen the front wheel skewer and simply lift both bikes out. The front tire remained locked in, but I was able to quickly and easily remove the bike frame and rear wheel. This is not a secure rack!

Expert Reply:

What you described is flaw with the wheel mounted bike racks only have a locking portion for just the wheel they grab onto. Another way to defeat these racks can sometimes be to deflate the front tire so that the wheel can be slipped past the locked arm.

The solution is a cable lock like the part # TH538XT which you route through the bike frames (and wheels if you are inclined) back to the safety chain loops of the hitch and you'll be much more secure.
