Both the Hollywood Racks Expedition, part # HRF6-2, and the Saris Solo, part # SA102, are confirmed to fit your 2001 Ford Escape.

Even though both racks fit I believe there's a better option. For almost every vehicle with a rear hatch the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top, part # HRF2, is the best fit. It's specifically designed for hatchbacks.

You'll need an adapter bar for an Electra Townie on any hanging bike rack. I recommend the Swagman Deluxe, part # 64005.

are there other racks that fit my 2001 ford escape? and can you please let me know what kind of locks THEFT i can purchase for it and another adapter bar that locks in place. just want to make sure this is a good fit for my Electra townie. Thanks in advance

There are other bike racks that fit your 2001 Ford Escape but I still believe the Over-the-Top to be your best option. If you prefer a more cost effective rack then I would go with the Thule Passage, part # TH910XT. It also fits quite well on SUVs. I've linked all of the 2-bike trunk mount racks we carry that fit your Escape for you to look at as well. There's a few that include security, like the Thule OutWay # TH45JV, but all of them can have security added using the security strap # TH533. Then add a cable lock using part # e98891. We don't carry any adapter bars that lock but a cable lock will keep everything secure.
