Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller Installation in 2011 GMC Sierra 1500
Question:
I want to purchase a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 #90195 for my 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 with factory tow package but without a controller. I presently have a Hopkins impulse controller mounted but it is not a proportional controller. Question: will the Tekosha #90195 fit my truck? If so, is it proportional?

Expert Reply:
The Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller # 90195 is a proportional type that will slow your trailer right along with the deceleration of the Sierra. Most people prefer this type of trailer brake controller since it keeps the tow vehicle and trailer much more in sync with each other.
Installation of the P3 in your truck will not require any other parts. The needed wires are already run and the P3 comes with a 4-wire pigtail lead for connection. Just match the connections you made for your Hopkins controller color for color.
