Tow Bar Lighting Recommendation for 2018 Ford F-150

Question:

I bought a taillight wiring kit for the truck and cannot figure how to wire up to motor home. I already have a jeep that I tow as well. I planned on using the 6 way cord coming from the motor home that I use for the jeep. Can I install the a tail light converter on the truck on the wires coming out of the 6 way socket on the front of the truck. That way I can use the same cord if I am towing at the truck or the jeep.

Trailer wiring and tow bar wiring are not interchangeable. You'd have to install a setup that is designed to activate the vehicle taillights as you are flat towing it. You can't use trailer wiring in reverse to activate the lights as they are not wired like that.

For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.

I attached an install video for this kit on a 2018 Ford F-150 just like yours for you to check out as well.
