Are Relays Needed When Installing Curt Wiring Harness for 2018 Chevy Equinox with Tow Package
Question:
I purchased the wiring harness since I noticed the towing cable on my 2018 Chevy equinox and assumed it was the towing package. When I went to install the relay per instructions, noticed the slots there have no wiring going to it. So does that mean I don’t have the towing package, just harness?

The relays that are included with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56375 for your 2018 Chevy Equinox may or may not be needed. On some Equinox models with the tow package, the slots are available for the included relays, but there is actually a factory relay already present nearby. In these cases, the additional relays are not needed. Since you do not see any wiring running from those slots, you likely have the factory relay so you simply don't need to install these. The only connection you need to make is with the primary harness to the factory port under the vehicle.
Take a look at the picture I have attached. This is a 2018 Equinox that has the factory relay already in place, for which the additional relays are not needed. You can also try to plug in the relays in those open spots on your vehicle. If it seems like a loose fit and you can't get them to secure tightly, this is another indication that they are not needed.
I have attached a full installation video that you can also use for reference.
