Higher Capacity Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2013 Ford Flex
Question:
Hi there. Were looking at buying a 2013 Ford Flex without the towing package. Stats list it as able to tow 2000 lbs, but it would be 4500 lbs with the package. Is installing a Class III hitch and an oil cooler enough to enable it to tow more?

So we can help you with a higher capacity trailer hitch for your 2013 Ford Flex like the Draw Tite part # 75679 which has a 4,000 lb trailer towing capacity for if you have dual exhaust, or if you do not have the dual exhaust you can install the Curt hitch part # 13551 which has a 5,000 lb capacity.
Only Ford would be able to tell you what parts your vehicle would need to have the increased towing capacity of the tow package. It could be just a hitch and a transmission or engine oil cooler but you'll have to clear it with them since they are the ones who rated the vehicle and would have to honor the warranty.
For trailer wiring you'd then want the part # 118472.
