Recommended Sliding Hitch for Short Bed Truck and Grand Design 303 5th Wheel Trailer

2018 2500 6 1/2 foot bed duramax with grand design 303 5th wheel with cut corners can i use a fixed hitch

The Grand Design 303 and similar 5th wheel trailers have the rounded front for increased turning clearance and slightly better aerodynamics, but I don't recommend using it with a fixed hitch on your 2018 2500 with 6-1/2 foot bed. The turning clearance gained is often not enough for complete turning clearances without using a sliding hitch.
I recommend using the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider # C16521 which will allow you 12 inches of travel to allow you the turning clearances to get around gas pumps and also maneuver to get in your camping spot. If you prefer an autosliding hitch to allow you to stay in your cab and let the hitch do the work, I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer # DM8550034.
If you don't have the factory rail kit, I recommend the custom rail kit # C16411-204 for a 2018 Chevy or GMC 2500.
If you have a 2018 Ram 2500, then I recommend the custom rail kit # C16427-204.
I also recommend the wiring harness # C56000 to add a 2nd 7-way trailer connector to the bed of your truck for easy connection and a clean look. This will work with GMC, Chevy, or Ram trucks.
Let me know if you have further questions.
