On the 2012 Chevy Silverado there is a brake controller wire bundle up under the dash to the left of the steering column. It should be held together with a white tag.
In this wire bundle there will be a red wire, dark blue wire, light blue (or orange wire), and white wire. The brake controller's red wire will go to the truck's light blue (or orange) wire. The brake controller's blue wire will go to the dark blue wire on the truck. White goes to white and the black brake controller wire will go to the truck's red wire.
There also may be some connections under the hood that will need to be made to make everything fully functional. I have included a link to our help article that explains all of this for you.
