Recommended Trailer Brake Controller and Harness for 2014 Ford Explorer
Question:
Good morning! I have a 2014 Ford Explorer with the tow package including the 7 pin connection. I want to install trailer brakes for pulling a 3500 - 5000 travel trailer. What do you recommend? I saw the reply to another customer for the 2013 Explorer and parts 90885 and 3035-P. Are these still good choices for the 2014? Thanks for your time!

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 that you referenced is an excellent choice. This is a great, proportional controller that will activate the trailer's brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your Explorer. It features an easy to read digital display, 3 boost levels, and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues.
Then, to install the controller in your Ford Explorer that came equipped with the factory 7-Way, all you will need is the Plug-In Adapter # 3035-P that you also mentioned. The same adapter is used for both the 2013 and 2014 model Explorers. One end of the harness will plug into the brake controller itself, while the other end will connect directly to the built-in port beneath the vehicle's dash. Once this connection is made, you are good to go!
I have attached the written installation instructions for this brake controller that you can also take a look at.
