Higher Amperage Powered Trailer Wiring Harness For Truck Camper and Trailer at the Same Time

Question:

I need a power converter. 1990 Dodge D250 with truck camper and trailer. Using RV 7 pin sockets and plugs. I think I need two converters or run separate converters. There are lots of running lights. There seems to be a lot of converters to choose from. Which one s should I purchase for high amps? thanks

It sounds as if you may be overloading the tail light circuits on your 1990 Dodge Ram D250, causing electrical issues because of the extra lighting on your truck camper and your trailer.

I recommend going with the universal 4-way kit # 119250KIT because it has a converter box to help with the power draw on your truck. When installing this harness on your 2 wire system (same bulb for stop and turn signals) you will need to ground the red stoplight wire from the vehicle input side of the converter along with the white ground wire.

This setup will provide 4.2 amps for stop and turn lights and 7.5 amps for running lights, and will draw power for these lights from the vehicle battery so your truck's wiring will be unaffected by the higher amperage draw when using two trailer connectors at the same time.
