Troubleshooting Wiring For Trailer Tail Lights

Question:

I just wired my light in and turned on these lights , all that comes on is the tail light and side marker. I don’t have turn signal nor brake lights . What did I do wrong? I have the four way plug that connects to my 2013 Ford Explorer.

Troubleshooting wiring can be challenging and there are many possible culprits. I would start on the vehicle side by making sure your grounds are firmly secured to a clean metal surface. Next, check your 4-way connector and make sure no debris or corrosion causing problems. After that, check to make sure wires are firmly connected function to function with a circuit tester like Item # PTW2993. If you are still having problems, check the wires and see if any are loose or pinched. If vehicle side checks out and still not working, do the same thing with the trailer side.

If you still have problems after these checks, contact us and we will consider other troubleshooting options.
