Wiring Curt Brake Controller to Factory Harness on 2012 Toyota Tundra

Question:

My Curt model C74VV brake controller has 4 wires coming from the back of it. Red, blue, white and black no plug, just individual wires. My Toyota Tundra came with a specific connector to hook up to the connector behind the kick panel. Once this connection is made, there are then 5 individual wires coming off the connector: Black-red, green, green-white, brown, red. Could you tell me what color wires from the brake controller go to what color wires from the truck connector. My truck came with the tow package already installed, so the 7 prong connector is already installed on the back of the truck. Thank you very much.

The four wires coming from your Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller # C74VV are for the following functions:

White - ground
Black - 12V power
Blue - output to trailer brakes
Red - input from brake switch

Then, based on my research, the factory brake controller harness for your Toyota Tundra features the following wire functions:

Brown - ground
Black with red - 12V power
Red - output to trailer brakes
Green with white - input from brake light switch,
The green wire is actually not used so you will simply cap it off and tape it up out of the way.

With all of this in mind, you will connect the white wire from the controller to the brown wire on the harness, the black wire from the controller to the black/red wire on the harness, the blue wire to the red wire, and the red wire to the green/white wire.
