Purpose Of Converter Or Powered ModuLite On A 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector

trailer 4 wire yconnector to 2006 honda odyssey. Do i need the converter or just a connector?

The converter or (Powered ModuLite) reduces strain on the wiring system. It is a recommended feature to make sure your product stays working for an extended period of time.
