Availability of 2 Bike Hitch Rack for Electra Hawaii 3 Cruiser Bike With Large Fenders
Question:
Is the Thule T2 bike carrier and others with antisway devices that clamp to the wheel suitable for cruiser style bicycles with those big front and rear fenders such as Electra Hawaii 3 Cruiser bike.

Most of the platform bike racks that use the clamp on the wheel are not designed for use with cruiser bikes that have the large fenders. The fenders do not allow the wheel hook to tighten properly and hold the bike to the bike rack.
The Thule T2 Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier, part # TH83JV, that you have referenced is not to be used on bikes that have fenders.
For cruiser bikes, like your Electra Hawaii 3 Bike, you will need to use a platform rack like the Swagman XTC-2, # S64670. This platform style hitch bike rack will fit a 1-1/4 inch hitch and a 2 inch hitch. It will hold 2 bikes and has a total weight capacity of 70 lbs. You will want to check the weight of your cruiser bikes to make sure the weight of the bikes does not exceed the capacity of the bike rack.
If you will require a bike rack with a higher weight capacity you will need to look at the Kuat Folding 2 Bike Lightweight Aluminum Rack. part # B202-2. This is a hanging style bike rack that will fit a 2 inch hitch and has a total weight capacity of 100 lbs.
Since your cruiser bike has a unique step-through frame design I would recommend the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, part # TH982XT, if you use a hanging bike rack. It attaches to the center seat post and to the handlebar post and provides a horizontal bar, so the bike can ride level on the bike rack. I am including a link to a video review of the Thule adapter bar.
