Installing Redarc Tow-Pro Elite in 2018 Toyota 4Runner Using Tekonsha Wiring Harness

Question:

My question was about the wiring harness that came with my 4Runner, not a purchased one. I’ve trimmed the file down a bit. The original was almost a MB. Hopefully this comes through. There are no matching wire colors.

For the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR is an easy installation with the Tekonsha Wiring Harness # 3041-P. You will just use the white connector of the harness along with the wire length and cut off the other end of the connector in order to use butt connectors provided with the Redarc system and it's harness. It is simply color matching and securing the ground to a metal screw utilizing the eyelet. You can see this installation in the attached video and you will have the 2 white wires coming out from one end of the butt connector with the other end going to the Redarc wiring.

I have the 3041-P harness, after cutting off the black connector, I am left with 2 ground wires. If I connect the Redarc Tow Pro Elite white wire to the Tekonsha harness, where does the loose white grounding wire connect? Should this be spliced in with the Redarc and Tekonsha white wires and then secured to a ground location on the vehicle?

The extra white wire I believe already has a ring terminal attached - so this one just needs to be secured to a nearby clean, bare metal surface. The other white wire would be connected to the white wire coming from the Redarc unit.

Thanks for the clarity and the diagram. You will connect the brake controller's wiring harness to the factory harness matching the following colors. Black to black for 12V power. Green-Yellow to Red for brake light signal White-Black to White for Ground Yellow to Blue for brake controller output The Green wire in the factory harness will not be connected. It is for a backlight and the controller will not need this separate function.
