Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2018 Chevy Cruz Diesel with Manual Transmission
Question:
I am outfitting my 2018 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel that is equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission for flat towing. I located the corresponding base plate BX1732. For my application, I need the tow bar to be vehicle mounted. Can you tell me if the BX4330 is compatible with this tow bar. Also need to know which fuse bypass harness is the appropriate model for this vehicle. Thank you for your help with this.

The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1732 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2018 Chevy Cruze Diesel with the manual transmission. I spoke with my contact at Blue Ox and he stated that this base plate kit is indeed compatible with the Blue Ox Acclaim Tow Bar # BX4330 that you also mentioned. He just stated that with this combo, the tow bar will need to attach 7 inches higher on the RV at the hitch ball.
I took a look at the online owner's manual for your Chevy Cruz. It states that you should remove fuses F15, F23, F26, and F27 from the instrument panel fuse block to prevent the battery from draining during the trip. I recommend using a couple of the FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch # RM76512 to take the hassle out of removing these fuses every time you tow.
If you still need a lighting solution/tow bar wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Kit # RM-15267. This will let you wire your Chevy Cruze to accept your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights. It includes a 6-Way connector that you will install at the front of your vehicle, and enough coiled wiring to go from there to the RV.
To flat tow your vehicle, you will also need a supplemental braking system and likely a high-low adapter. For a supplemental braking system, I really like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR, along with the 12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332. This is a great, proportional system that will physically press down on the brake pedal in your Chevy Cruze at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to it in your RV.
