Brake Controller Recommendation for 2008 Chevy Silverado for Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes
Question:
I have a horse trailer that I am making a crago/kitchen/shower trailer for Deer camp. I have a 2008 Silverado 3500. With the factory brake controller. Considering converting the horse trailer brakes to rotors because in will be hauling two trailers at once. Will my factory brake controller mesh with the electric to hydraulic actuator. Its a 8 bolt lug pattern for the wheels. I would have to look up the GVW rating of the trailer. Its up there. I cant see spending $2000 on brakes for a trailer that gets used once a year. If you see my point. Thanks for your time.

The factory integrated brake controller of a 2008 Chevy Silverado would not be compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes. You'd have to replace the controller with one that is compatible like the Prodigy P2 part # 90885.
I have included a helpful article that explains the process of installing a P2 on a GM vehicle with a factory installed integrated brake controller. You can follow this process to see how the P2 is installed and if you choose to disconnect and re-install the P2, the process is very straight forward.
