Heating Pads for Holding Tank and Pump on Class B RV

Question:

Hi. We have a Dodge 86 explorer class B RV I have purchased the heat pad #227-000164 for our fresh water supply. I see its rated for 29+ Gal tanks. We have a 26 Gal tank and our water pump is right next to the water tank. I was thinking of putting 3/4 of the pad under the water tank and the other 1/4 under the water pump to help keep it from frezzing making sure the pad is not in contact with any conductive material would this work? Also does the paper backing have to be removed from the heating pad before operation? Would like to leave it on and possibly play around with positioning of the heat pad.

Since your tank is 26 gallons having only 3/4 of heating pad # 277-000164 on the tank would only cover 21-3/4 gallons. What I purpose instead is to use the whole pad on the tank and use a separate pad, just as # 277-000161 or # 277-000162 for the pump. That way you will get the most out of each heating pad.

The paper does have to be removed otherwise something could occur that could potentially burn the paper and that could lead to other issues. But if you go with my plan of using 2 pads you could just place each pad in the optimum location and not have to test them out in different places.
