The Swagman Chinook 2-Bike Platform Rack # S64683 does not require you to key lock the arms. The ratcheting arms allow you to secure the bikes in place with or without locking the arms in place. This will allow you to use them for your short commute to the trail without locking, but also gives you the security of locking them to deter theft when taking a longer trip out of town.
