Which is Preferred Connection for SMI CoachLink 900 Wireless Transmitter

Question:

Jameson, Thanks for getting back to about the SMI Stay n Play Duo which I’m going to purchase from ETrailer. Also going to purchase the coach link monitor. Question: the Jeep is Wired with Hopkin simple wire harness and the green yellow and white wires are bundled up in the the rock guard. How would you suggest I connect those wires from the G force controller, provided Connectors or HS butt connectors? Do I need the Brake lite relay kit?

The SMI CoachLink 900 Wireless Transmitter and Receiver Braking Indicator Set # SM99945 that you mentioned comes with a couple butt end connectors and a couple quick splices for tapping into a circuit. I personally don't care for quick splices as the few times I've tried to use them I either ended up cutting the circuit I was trying to tap into or didn't press the blade hard enough to get the circuits to contact.

The best connection would be to solder it. For that we have the part # FL0803490 for solder and then # PTW2012 for the iron. Or we have butt connectors as part # DW05714.

I attached an install video for this kit on a very similar 2016 Wrangler Unlimited as your 2012 model.

Since your vehicle's brake lights will come on when you press the brake pedal you will need the brake light relay part # RM-88400 so that your blinkers will still activate on your vehicle when the brakes are on.
