The brake output circuit is the circuit that takes the braking power from your brake controller back to the brakes of the trailer. Typically if this circuit has a problem is due to a dirty trailer wiring connector. Check the pins of your 7-way on both the truck and trailer looking for corrosion and clean as needed. That fixes the problem 95 percent of the time.

Aside from that you'd just have to go over the wiring between the truck and trailer looking for any thing that would cause the circuit to be damaged like a cut wire.
