Recommended 7-Way Trailer Connection and Trailer Brake Controller for 2004 Dodge Dakota
Question:
I’m wanting to hook up trailer brakes to a 2004 dodge Dakota. All the wiring packages I see are you 4 pin flat only and the trailer has 7. What are my options here because I have no clue.

Since your 2004 Dodge Dakota does not have the factory 7-way option, you will want to start with the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118323. This is a simple installation behind the tail lights of your Dakota.
Once you have the 4-way, then you will use the Universal Brake Controller Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit will come with all the wire, circuit breakers, and connectors needed to add your 7-way connection. Then if your trailer has brakes, you will also need a brake controller like # 90195. I recommend this Prodigy P3 controller because it applies the brakes at the same time and with the same amount of pressure as you hit the brake pedal in your Dakota. It has an easy to understand LCD screen and also has preset boost options for extremely easy use.
I've attached an installation video to help. Let me know if you have further questions.
