Bike Rack Recommendation for Rear of RV
Question:
It was mentioned in a previous question the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 was not recommended for use on an RV. You recommended the Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Platform Rack. Can you use the Curt RV Bumper 2inch Trailer Hitch Receiver Item # E-100 with this bike rack?

Expert Reply:
At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use.
Swagman has the E-Spec part # S94FR which is RV approved and would work well with the RV hitch part # E-100 but the XTC2 part # S64670 is not compatible with RVs.
