Does Negative Battery Cable of 2017 Ford Edge Need to Disconnect When Flat Towing with Charge Wire
Question:
We have an InvisiBrake system to tow the 2017 Ford Edge. It says that if the motorbike lights are on that it will charge the battery of the towed vehicle. If this is the case, is it necessary to disconnect the negative battery cable? Thanks!

The recommendation for disconnecting the battery of a vehicle when flat towing like on your 2017 Ford Edge is so that you can put the key for the vehicle in a position that allows the steering wheel to be unlocked and not drain the battery.
If you have a charge wire ran to the Ford Edge that might offfset some of the drain but most likely it would not be quite enough so we recommend sticking with what the manufacturer recommends.
