Is Isolation Solenoid Needed for Trailer 12V Power Pin on a 2017 Ford F-250 7-Way
Question:
Is isolation solenoid needed for 2017 f250 with wire kit from truck battery to rear connection?

Expert Reply:
Not necessarily. Sometimes vehicles will automatically stop sending 12V power back to the 7-Way when the vehicle is turned off and the key is removed from the ignition. You can test this out on your 2017 Ford F-250 by using a circuit tester # PTW2993 and testing the pin in the 1 o'clock position (see picture).
If your F-250 continues to send power to your trailer when the key is removed from the ignition then you can install a isolation solenoid like part # PK5231201 if that is how you want the 12V power on your F-250 to operate.
