For your 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid, we do have a way for you to get the 7-way trailer plug you desire. You will first need to install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118551 which will install behind the tail lights of your vehicle and draw power directly from the battery. I've attached an article to assist in routing that 12V power wire.
Then you will use that 4-way along with the universal brake controller wiring kit # ETBC7 to get the 7-way wiring, connections, and circuit breakers. I've attached a video of this installation to assist. Then you simply need a brake controller if you will be using the 7-way with a trailer that has brakes. For that controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This is a proportional controller that has an LCD screen, 3 brake boost levels, and is very easy to understand. It is a customer favorite.
