Reese Bracket Kit Recommendation to Take Rails From GMC Truck and Install in 2003 Dodge Ram
Question:
I purchased a reese 15000 5th wheel hitch in 2000, installed in a GMC Sierra Ext Cab pick up with a 6foot bed. Id like to move it into a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup. Will the same mounting brackets work in this model truck?

Expert Reply:
If the mounting brackets in your GMC truck are L-brackets like what are in the part # RP30035 then yes you'll be able to swap that into your new truck as this is a universal rail kit. If you see any other type of brackets you'll need to replace them to install the rail kit.
For that you'd want the part # RP50140 which replaces the hardware and is compatible with the rails that you currently have.
Since the hardware that attaches the rails to the brackets is only designed for one time use you would also need the part # 58164.
