Winch Needed for Moving Boat and Trailer to Water from Lakefront Property
Question:
I plan to launch a boat from my lake front property. The boat will be on a trailer and combined boat+trailer will weigh approximately 800lb. Boat is 15 inch and ~ 400 lb on a Karavan KB-1250-56 trailer ~320 lb. I plan to raise and lower the boat and trailer during seasonal use and would like to do this as unassisted as possible I estimate that the yard storage area could be 100 foot from the lake and estimate a 20 ft decline . I can move closer to the lake depending on what is available Please recommend a brake winch that could handle this job. Also interested if you have a winch stand that could be fashioned to a concrete footing. Thank you

I recommend using the Fulton High-Performance 2-Speed Trailer Winch # F142430 for your application.
It features a handbrake and 2 speeds; one for pulling the line in quicker and one for more of a mechanical advantage. The winch has a Z-Max 600 zinc finish which provides superior corrosion resistance and a 600-hour salt spray rating.
The 3,700 lb weight rating may seem a little overkill but it will ensure that your winch will not be straining every time that you use it. It is also the only boat hand winch that we have which features a handbrake. It can hold up to 185' x 7/32" of cable, but we do not have any that is that long so you will need to supply that.
Unfortunately when it comes to mounting it to your concrete footing we do not have anything available.
