Will Coiled Safety Cables Catch the Trailer Tongue Like Chains Would

Question:

How can the cable support the trailer in the event the tongue came off the ball? with the chain, it lands on the chain rather than on the pavement.

Using cables such as # C80176 in place of chains is no different than using chains. You would still cross the cables under the tongue so that they will catch the tongue should the trailer come off of the ball. The cables are steel underneath the coating and they are quite firm so the tongue weight of the trailer would not be able to overcome the tension of the cables when the trailer is pulled away from the vehicle in an off-the-ball event just like chains.
