Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for Needing 15 inches of Turning Clearance

Question:

Need to know if there is a box pin adapter to fit a 2004 Sl3905 weekend warrior. Can not find any information on the type of pin box. Found a badge that says RBW #7027 The bolt pins are not vertical rather slanted. Have a new 2017 Ford 250 superduty shortbead. Current pin to trailer side measurement of 52-1/2” . Reese 20k hitch center pin to cab measurement is 37.75. By my calculations I need about 15” of offset. Concerned about using a sliding hitch system due to the turning radius of basic turns are drastically low at standard position. I read your not supposed to tow in slide position. Looking for alternative solutions.

Since the RBW 7027 is a tube style pin box there isn't a Sidewinder pin box that will give you the turning clearance you'd need, but we do have one fifth wheel hitch that will slide more than 15 inches like you'd need.

The Demco Hijacker 13k part # DM8550040 might be ideal for you. As you make tight turns it automatically slides back 22-1/2 inches to give you the clearance you need for sharp turns. This way you don't have to remember to activate the slider as you enter and leave parking lots.
