Now about the last week or two it will not shut down and go to sleep. The P3 brake controller part # 90195 is supposed to go to sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity. Yours is most likely sensing some type of activity to keep it "awake." This could be corrosion on the trailer connector causing a slight short which makes the controller think a trailer is connected. Or if there's a short on the wiring to the controller that could be the culprit as well.
Keep in mind that if you are opening the door on the truck or touching the brakes at all when checking on it that could potentially wake it back up.
