Recommended Reese Elite System for Short Bed 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500
Question:
I want a 5th wheel hitch with under bed rail system. I have a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD crew can with 6.5 foot bed. I originally bought the Reese 18k hitch and rail system before I measured my bed. Do I need to exchange for the slider edition?

For your 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500, you will want the Reese Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP30868 that you most likely already purchased. Then you will want the Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider # RP30144. Since you already purchased the 18K hitch, I recommend exchanging it to ensure you have the proper clearance, or you can change your pin box for a Sidewinder to allow you to use a fixed hitch and the rotating pin box to give you the turning clearance needed for your 6.5 foot bed.
I've attached an article to assist. If you need help determining your pin box if you choose to use a Sidewinder, there should be a sticker on your pin box that will give you a simple number. If you cannot find it, there is a way to measure to determine fit. I've attached an article to assist. Let me know if you have further questions.
