Recommended Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack to Transport 3 Bikes on 2018 Honda CR-V

Question:

Hi I would like to get a hitch receiver for a Honda CR-V 2018 EX model such that I can use a 3 bike rack on it. Is it possible to use a Class 1 hitch receiver 1 1/4 inch have a 3 bike rack installed. Do I need a Class 3 hitch receiver for carrying 3 bikes? What solution do I have since the Honda CrV is rated for only Class 1 hitch receiver? Thank you

Class I trailer hitches are only able to carry at most 2 bikes when using a hitch-mounted rack. The good news, though, is that there are indeed a couple Class III hitches available that are confirmed to fit your 2018 Honda CR-V. I recommend going with the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Round Tube Receiver Hitch # 76128. This Class III hitch is custom-fit for your CR-V, which means it will use existing holes in the vehicle's frame for a no-drill installation. The 2 inch hitch receiver that it provides will open the door up to countless options when it comes to a bike rack and allow you to transport all 3 of your bikes.

I have attached an installation video for this hitch on your 2018 Honda CR-V that you can use for reference.

If you do not yet have a bike rack, I highly recommend looking at the Kuat Transfer 3 Bike Platform Rack # KU24FR. This is an excellent, platform-style rack that features ratcheting hooks that will hold your bikes by the wheels with no frame contact. An easy-to-use foot pedal will allow you to tilt back the rack, with the bikes still loaded, for easy rear cargo access on your CR-V. The carrier can secure 3 bikes of up to 40 pounds each. I just recommend adding the Cable Locks and Hitch Lock # PTSCLK13 to secure your investment and help deter theft.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this carrier so you can get a better look at all of its features.
