Question:
i just installed all of the fuses and relays and it shows that it was wired for reverse lights option on the 7 way, however the reverse lights on my trailer are not coming on when the vehicle is in reverse. but when i plug my trailer up to my 2015 gmc 2500hd they come on in reverse, what gives? thank you for your time.

Sounds like you installed the part # 118271 which is a 7-way kit confirmed as a fit for your 2015 Chevy Traverse. It should have the reverse light circuit active on the center pin, but you should still check that pin when the reverse lights of the vehicle are on with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to verify if it has voltage or not.
Fuse F8 under the hood of your Traverse will be the one that powers the reverse light circuit. I'd verify that fuse is installed properly and not blown.
