The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13042 that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 1998 Chevy 1500.
If looks like when you selected your vehicle you chose "1998 Chevrolet C-Series Medium Duty" instead of the "1998 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup" catagory that your 1500 falls under.
If you will be using this trailer hitch to tow lighter trailers that don't utilize brakes then you will also want to install the Tekonsha T-One # 118315 to activate the basic trailer lighting functions. If instead you will be towing trailers that do use brakes then you will want to install either the Connector # 37185 with some additional wiring or the Kit # ETBC7 depending on if the manufacturer already has the wiring run for the brake controller and 12V pins. I have attached sample installation videos for each system for you to check out. Out of the brake controllers I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 which is highlighted in one of the installations.
You will also need a ball mount for your towing setup. One of the more popular options is the Curt # C45036 which also comes with a 2" hitch ball, as well as a hitch pin and clip. You will want to refer to the linked ball mount article to ensure that this will suit your towing needs.
