Why Do Diodes have Two Input Terminals and Only One Output

why does a diode have 2 lines in and only one out

Diodes like the part # RM-790 have two wires on the input side so that you can have two different power sources activating a single circuit (the out side) and not have to worry about the power circuits backfeeding on each other.
