Recommended SumoSprings Helper Springs for 2003 Ford E450 Lazy Daze 26.5 Foot Motorhome

Question:

Ive read most of the QandA pertaining to SumoSprings SSR-106 for the E450 based motorhomes and still am unable to decide between the -47 black and -54 yellow springs. What is the determining factor when you recommend one over the other?. My vehicle is equipped with front and rear after market sway bars and new HD Bilstein shocks. While the ride is much improved I still get a fair amount of tail wag, some body roll, and a little push from passing trucks. I think the adfotion of SumoSprings might finish off the remaining undesired behavior. My front axle weight is 3900 lbs and the rear is 8200 lbs. Full gas, water, grey, and black tanks all empty. My rear leaf springs are flat to slightly inverted and the vehicle leans a little to the right front. The ride is already bit harsh over steel expansion joint at 60 mpg but that may be due to 80 psi in the rear tires. 2003 Ford E450 Lazy Daze 26.5.

The SumoSprings Helper Springs are axle specific. It sounds like you are looking for a recommendation for each axle and have been doing your homework.

For your rear axle, I recommend the yellow # SSR-106-54-1 because they have they are rated for 5400 lb capacity and the springs attach at the top and bottom for constant support. This will help with the body roll and push. These will be slightly stronger than the black # SSR-106-47-1. In this case the brackets are a better fit for your frame and the springs offer more support under the load you are carrying to assist your new shocks.

Since you have a natural tilt toward the front right side, I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Front Axle # SSF-106-47 as well. These are rated for 1000 lbs and will work independently to assist in leveling and body roll. This addition should give you a noticeable difference in the level driving of your 2003 Ford E450 Lazy Daze 26.5 motorhome.

These springs will help level your ride and take the uncomfortable aspects out of your system due to the other components you already have installed. They have zero maintenance and are easy to install.
