Does Latch Handle on B&W Companion Extend Further Than Base?

Question:

We are looking at a BWRVK3600. Can you tell me how far the disconnect arm moves in front of the base. Im concerned about a fuel tank in front of the hitch. For use in a 2017 Ram 3500 DRW 8foot bed.

I spoke with a representative of B&W, who told me that the latch handle on the B&W Companion # BWRVK3600 will not extend past the base of the hitch regardless of if the handle is in the open or closed position. This means you will not have any difficulties with interference from the fuel tank in front of the hitch.

You have made a very smart choice taking a look at the Companion. It is considered by many to be the highest-quality fifth wheel hitch available. With nearly 400 reviews from customers who have purchased it, the Companion has gotten a nearly unanimous 5-star rating.

It features dual jaws which are a full 1" thick to provide complete contact with your king pin so you can have faith that your connection is completely secure. The Companion is also going to give you a much quieter ride with less rattling than other fifth wheels due to that secure connection, along with the polyurethane bushings it has.

It has a pivoting head to make hooking up easier, a cam-action latch to deter binding, and offers three different height settings to ensure you are level with your fifth wheel. The B&W will fit directly into the puck system in the bed of your 2017 Ram 3500 and has a towing capacity of 20,000 lbs. I've added links to video reviews of the hitch for you to take a look at as well.
