Will this be ok to install directly into the frame of the vehicle? Should I be worried about it getting wet if mounted to the frame?

You wouldn't want to submerge the Starter Solenoid part # PK5231201 but it is water resistant. In an outside application though it would be fine.

Yes, the solenoid part #PK5231201 is continous duty and can be in use for long periods of time without burning out.
