Recommend 1-1/4 Hitch Extender For Thule T2 TH917XTR To Clear Rear Bumper When Folded Up
Question:
Looking for an adapter for the above rack. In the folded up position the plastic wheeltray hits the top of my bumper not allowing it to lock into position. The tray/arm assembly is mounted as far away from the care as designed, but I need more clearance. I have a 1 1/4 receiver. THanks!

For a 1-1/4 inch hitch extender, we have the Brophy Hitch Extender, part # HES6. This will extend the receiver by 6 inches.
However, when using a hitch extender you will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch in half. So if you have a Class I hitch which has a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs, you would be limited to carrying 100 lbs. This includes the weight of the Thule T2, which is about 50 pounds, plus the weight of your bicycles.
You will want to check the label on your hitch to see what class hitch is on your vehicle..
