Electric Brake Controller Not Working on Horse Trailer When Not Moving
Question:
I have a f450 and a larger goose neck trailer and the electric brakes do not work. My 1st question is will the brakes work even if the trailer is not moving.

When using a proportional style brake controller like the Tekonsha P3 # 90195, the brakes will not work the same way when not moving. The brake controller uses an internal sensor to detect deceleration and give a proportional amount of braking pressure, so the braking pressure when not moving is minimal unless you are using the manual override slider which will give you override braking power. You can adjust the braking power to give you more braking power with less movement if needed by changing your preset or adjusting the gain knob on some models.
You may also want to test your 7-way for functions using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. I've attached an article to assist with function locations.
