Can Swagman XC Platform Rack S64650 Accept RV Rack Shank SP325 to Allow Use on Towing Ball Mount

Question:

I have a Swagman XC2 platform bike rack but I need to be able to use it while towing a camper. Will the replacement shank, Item # SP325 from the Swagman Traveler work with my rack? Id like to just replace the shank and not have to buy a whole new rack.

I understand your intent in replacing just the shank component of your Swagman XC # S64650 platform bike rack with a RV-rated shank to allow use of this carrier while towing your camper trailer. Since the XC is not rated for use on the rear of an RV this would be a cost-effective way to use your existing rack in that application.

However, the replacement shank # SP325 for the Traveler XCS rack # S64664 will not fit, nor would it make the XC suitable to use on a ball mount while you tow. I confirmed with my swagman contact.

Although this shank component is indeed RV-rated the rest of the XC rack is not rated for the extra stresses found in RV applications.
