Installing a Brake Controller in a 2016 Ford F-150 with Factory 4-Way Flat Connector
Question:
What is all the other stuff with the 7 pin adapter there? I have all the wiring back there so to me I would just need the 7 pin with the wires attached to it? Am I missing something?

For your 2016 Ford F-150, the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 is a great option. To install this, you will need the wiring harness # 22292. This adapter plugs into the built-in connector beneath your vehicle's dashboard. To access this connector, first locate the instrument cluster finish panel in the center of you dash, near the driver's side. Carefully pry the panel out and undo the locking tabs to remove the panel. Plug the adaptor into the mating connector in the large gray housing behind the panel.
To add the 7-way trailer connector you need for this system, you will need the Universal Brake Controller Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This will connect to your factory 4-way and then you will need to connect the remaining 3 wires. Your truck should have the brake (blue) and hot lead (orange or red) wires already run from under the hood to the end of the driver's side frame rail. You will connect the blue wire from your connector to that blue wire and the black wire from the connector to that orange or red wire. Then you will connect the purple wire to your reverse light power at your tail light by splicing it in with a quick connector. If you don't find the two wires in your frame, you can hardwire the entire system. I've attached a video to assist.
